Role Of Bureaucracy In Nation Building Emphasized

Mussoorie: The Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Mr. Kiren Rijiju addressed the IAS officers undergoing training at Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration, Mussoorie on Dec 14. While 180 officers have recently joined the service, nearly 80 officers are in mid-career training.
During his address, Mr. Rijiju emphasized the role of bureaucracy in nation building and strengthening and upholding of democratic values. He urged the officers to be humble, simple and sensitive to the needs of the people. Delineating the difference between achievement and success, he said that while getting into the elite service is an achievement, performing to their best ability for serving the people of the country and rising to their expectations is what success will count for.

The MoS (Home) informed about the challenges of internal security and the steps taken by the present Government in making efforts for declining trend in militancy and Left Wing Extremism. He also talked on the Act East policy of the Government and the focus of the Government in holistic development of North East as gateway to South East Asia.
Lastly, Mr. Rijiju reiterated the importance of Bureaucracy in unity and integrity of India and reminded the IAS officers about the rising expectations of the aspiring nation and thus need for them to equip themselves with the requisite skills for taking up the challenge and serve the humankind with hard work, compassion and pure sense of service.
