We live in an Era of Risk and Instability. Globalization, New technologies, and greater Transparency have combined to upend the Business Environment and give many CEOs a Deep Sense of Unease....

Market Turbulence did not begin with the Fall of Lehman Brothers, and it will not end when the Global Economy recovers.

That´s because Traditional Approaches to Strate (though often seen as the Answer to Change and Uncertainty) actually assume a Relatively Stable and Predictable World. Over the Past Decade, research underscores the Importance of Agility for Success in Turbulent Markets. Fndings also revealed Three distinct types of Agility: Strategic, Portfolio, and Operational.

Sustainable Competitive Advantage no longer arises exclusively from Position, Scale, and First-order Capabilities in pPoducing or Delivering an Offering. All those are essentially Static. So where does it come from ? Increasingly, Managers are finding that it stems from the 'second-order' Organizational Capabilities that Foster Rapid Adaptation. Instead of being really good at Doing some Particular Thing, Companies must be really good at Learning how to do New Things....
