The U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon 2015 will be held twice : October 8-11 and October 15-18 at the Orange County Great Park, going from 11.00 am to 7.00 pm. this is a free public event. Nearly 800 students from around the world who will provide public tours of their fully functioning solar houses.

The students are studying architecture, engineering, urban planning and other subjects and have imagined and created and built each solar house.
Orange County Great Park is the first Great Metropolitan park of the 21st Century. Established on June 24, 2003 by the Irvine City Council, the Orange County Great Park Corporation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The Corporation is governed by a five-member Board of Directors consisting of the five sitting council members from the City of Irvine.
The former Marine Corps Air Station El Toro is being transformed into the first Great Metropolitan Park of the 21st Century“”the Orange County Great Park. Located in the geographic center of Orange County, California, halfway between Los Angeles and San Diego, the Great Park is easily accessible to more than 10,000,000 Southern California residents via freeway or railway.
